Updated Continuing Personal/Professional Development (CPD) policy for Qualified Association members
28.04.26We have recently updated our Continuing Personal/Professional Development (CPD) policy to bring it more in line with the other Associations in our sector. The key change is the expectation that members gain two CPD points every three years, whereas previously this was over five years. The 20 days/activities are also to be completed in the three-year period.
The prime focus of the policy is on integrity and the wish that you, as a member, have expressed to be as current and competent as possible as you continue to use your qualifications whether as a volunteer or in a paid capacity.
The sanction for not being current is that you will not be listed on the Find-a-leader database, though you can remain a member. As we cannot evidence your currency, should you be the subject of a complaint or involved in an incident the Association would not be able to support you as well as, by comparison, an up-to-date member.
Members have the three-year term of the new policy to bring themselves within date for CPD. Please note, that two CPD points and 20 days/activities over three years is a minimum and it is recommended that members aim for significantly more than this to keep themselves fully informed of any changes in the sector and as current and competent as they can be. With over 400 events planned this year we hope you feel you have a lot of choice and opportunity to continue your development. If there are personal development opportunities you would to see in the event calendar, please let us know at association@mountain-training.org.
