Met Office Weather Workshops 2026

15.06.26

We feel very privileged to be working in association with the Met Office for our eighth year, delivering specialist weather workshops to our members around the UK.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Dr. Mike Reading who has been integral to this collaboration over the last seven years, and we wish him all the very best as he takes up a new role as Met Office Advisor (Civil Contingencies). Mike hands the reigns over to our two new workshop facilitators’, Senior Operational Meteorologists, Adam Paul and Bryn New.

These sessions have been carefully designed to support the syllabuses of Mountain Training's qualifications as well as to enhance the knowledge of leaders and instructors. They focus on the practical application of information gained from weather forecasts during the planning stage and dynamically whilst out in the hills, moors and mountains.

The Met Office are keen to engage with our community of members to reach walkers and climbers of mountains, hills, moors and lowland. They are keen to receive feedback and learn how the information gained in the course might influence and supports a leader’s or instructor’s decision making when working or volunteering.

Further, having our members pass on information to help the public understand how to use forecast information which enables them to make good decisions whilst enjoying their time in the great outdoors.

"Both trainers were very knowledgeable and presented the whole day really well. I have already recommended the day to other ML/HML trainees. Thanks for a fabulous workshop".
