Women in Mountain Training Conference 2024

Following the success of our 2022 Women in Mountain Training conference and as part of our continued Gender Equality Strategy; we are excited to be hosting the 2024 conference at Outward Bound Ullswater in the Lake District, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November 2024.

 

The conference is open to women and gender minorities at any stage of their Mountain Training journey, so long as they are at least registered on one qualification.

 

Men interested in supporting women and girls are encouraged to access 2022’s resource page here, OutdoorHer here and keep an eye out for our 2024 resources and report.

 

The conference has the following aims:

 

  • To support women engaging with Mountain Training qualifications at all levels.
  • To provide an opportunity for women to develop knowledge networks.
  • To offer development to women in becoming a Mountain Training course provider and taking up other leadership opportunities in the sector.
  • To share the findings from the conference with our providers, sector employers and managers to help them understand the challenges women face.

 

Designed with input from our Women in Mountain Training Facebook community and using feedback from 2022, we are excited to offer the following programme:

 

Tickets cost £150 for the full weekend and £75 for a day. When booking your ticket you must also select which workshops you would like to attend each day.

What's included?

Weekend ticket: 2 nights shared accommodation (Friday and Saturday night) at Outward Bound Ullswater, all meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch, a full programme of workshops.

 

One day ticket (Saturday): 1 nights shared accommodation (Friday night), breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, a full day of workshops on Saturday.

 

One day ticket (Sunday): 1 nights shared accommodation (Saturday night), breakfast and lunch on Sunday, a day of workshops on Sunday.

 

Weekend programme

Friday evening:

Accommodation will be available from 6pm. Please note: there is no catering or catering facilities on Friday evening so please organise an evening meal for yourself.

 

Saturday:

  • Whole Group Session 1: Grassroots heroes, delivered by Steph Wetherell (Every Body Outdoors) and Carla Khouri (Black Girls Hike)
  • Optional Workshop 1 (choose from a list of three, or a practical full day session - scroll down for the list)
  • Lunch

  • Whole Group Session 2: Neurodivergence in the industry - as instructors and for participants, delivered by Suzi Dick & Nicola Foyle
  • Social time
  • Evening meal
  • Evening talk: Women's hormone lifecycles, delivered by Natalie Brown
