Business Skills for Instructors
The Business skills for instructors course tackles the increasingly complex realities of working as an outdoor professional. Designed as a practical guide for instructors operating across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, the course covers essential topics including choosing the right business structure, understanding tax responsibilities, keeping accurate records and navigating employment status.
Learners will also gain insight into important areas such as insurance requirements, safeguarding responsibilities and data protection obligations, helping them build resilient and legally compliant businesses. The course is intended to benefit both newly qualified instructors setting up on their own and experienced professionals looking to strengthen their business knowledge.
Menstruation and the menopause: Inclusive practice
The Menstruation and the menopause: inclusive practice course aims to build understanding and confidence among climbing and hill walking leaders, instructors and volunteers. It explores how hormonal changes can affect health, wellbeing and performance, while providing practical strategies for managing symptoms and adapting activities. The course also encourages open, respectful conversations around topics that have often been overlooked in outdoor settings.
By increasing awareness of menstruation and menopause, Mountain Training hopes to help create more inclusive and supportive environments, whether participants are working with clients, colleagues or considering their own experiences. The course offers practical guidance that can be applied directly in the field, helping instructors make informed decisions and provide better support for those taking part in outdoor activities.
