Mountain Training launches new e‑learning area with 4 new courses

28.05.26

Mountain Training has developed a new e-learning area to better support candidates at every stage of their Mountain Training journey, from preparing for training and assessment courses, to continuing personal/professional development (CPD) after qualification.

The new e-learning area allows us to provide:

  • Accessible learning to help candidates arrive better prepared and more confident on courses
  • Ongoing learning opportunities for qualified candidates to maintain and develop their knowledge
  • Engaging, interactive learning content that supports different learning styles

By moving to this new e‑learning hub, we can offer a more consistent, modern and supportive learning experience aligned with Mountain Training standards and current good practice.

The new e-learning area is accessed here (or click the link at the bottom of the news article):

New and updated courses

This launch includes three fully revised courses on geology and a brand new course on effective climate action.

Geology

The three geology courses, previously only available to members of our association, have been updated and expanded to include a wealth of new learning and incorporate new interactive functionality. There are three courses:

  1. Plate tectonics
  2. Rock types and landscape features
  3. Weathering and erosion

Each course awards 0.5 CPD points for Mountain Training Association members and 0.25 Peripheral CPD points for BAIML members.

Courses can be bought separately (£15 each for Mountain Training Association members, £25 for non-members) or all three as a bundle (£35 for Mountain Training Association members, £60 for non-members).

Effective climate action

Effective climate action has been written by Jennifer Stretton and explores climate science and the most effective actions for leaders. It's packed full of climate science and tools to help open the conversation with participants.

Jen is a climate educator and the founder of two climate non-profits, Mieux Donner and The World Climate Relay. She is also an International Mountain Leader who works primarily in the Alps and Arctic - two places where the impacts of climate change are very visible.

This course is FREE and awards 0.5 CPD points for Mountain Training Association members and 0.25 Peripheral CPD points for BAIML members.
