Last of the Midlands Region summer wine
On the last weekend in September, the Midlands Regional group were welcomed to the North Staffordshire Gritstone venue of The Roaches.
A strong selection of volunteers and members met at the fantastic Peak Climbing School in Upper Hulme (thanks for the warm welcome Stu!), before heading out in peer led groups to look at diverse areas such as, rigging as a Rock Climbing Instructor, Bridging the gap from Hill and Moorland Leader to Mountain Leader, including some useful ropework. A team went to wander up Kinder Scout, a much wanted DLOG tick!
An eventful evening was has by all over a social supper in Ye Olde Roaches Inn, including a dislocated knee, profuse blood loss, and an unconscious body. It’s a good job all award holders current first aid training!
We were blessed with stupendous sunshine and warm for Saturdays activities, with a misty and damp start for Sundays start to autumn.
Thanks to all members and volunteers for a fun weekend, later in the season will be the usual monthly midlands social climbing evenings, along with a seasonable November night nav in the Shropshire hills.
