MTUK Board of Directors
DDownes Dan Downes - Chair
Dan’s love of the mountains began with mountain and arctic warfare training in the Royal Marines. He now works for a UK based international management consulting firm, where he helps clients with operations excellence, systems engineering and complex programme management. Dan lives in Buckinghamshire. This is further from the mountains than he would like, but it does not get in the way of his love of hill walking, scrambling, indoor climbing, rock climbing, ice climbing and alpine mountaineering.
RWard Roger Ward - Treasurer
I have worked in outdoor education for the past 30 years. I currently manage a residential centre in the Lake District for a Charitable Trust. As an active mountaineer, climber and paddler I have experience throughout Europe and the Greater Ranges. I have been delivering Mountain Training awards for the last 20 years. When I am not in the mountains or on a river, I can be found kite surfing, windsurfing or biking.

He is committed to the work of Mountain Training in the UK.
Adge Last - Director with expertise in the Adventure Activities Sector
Adge has been passionate about climbing and the outdoor environment since his first introduction to the Scottish mountains when at school in Edinburgh. These experiences shaped his career and lifestyle choices, having worked in and managed outdoor centres, taught in schools, freelanced, managed a climbing wall, worked for the British Mountaineeering Council and Mountain Training England and been the outdoor education adviser for a Local Authority.

Always highly motivated to be active outdoors and having recently retired from fulltime employment, he will have less need to boulder or bike with lights in the dark! This change has enabled him to do more of the things he enjoys – whether that is training enthusiastic adults on an Hill and Moorland Leader course, cranking on (relatively!) small holds, seeking multi-day backcountry adventures or grappling with the complexity of an expert witness case.

Adge was on the inaugural committee of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors when it was first established, and currently volunteers on a number of committees including the Peak District National Park Local Access Forum and the Alpkit Foundation.
