Mountain Training Scotland Director Recruitment 2025
22.01.25
Can your experience influence the direction of Scotland’s awarding organisation for the Mountain Training qualifications and personal skills schemes?
Mountain Training Scotland (MTS) is inviting applications for two new non-executive Directors for its Board of Directors.
Directors share responsibility for the governance of the organisation, set its strategic direction, and oversee its management. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure Mountain Training Scotland is well positioned to oversee and develop the provision of the Mountain Training qualifications, personal skills training schemes and their associated learning pathways.
Applications are invited from individuals with personal experience of walking, mountaineering and/or climbing activities. Participation in the Mountain Training schemes whilst not essential would be useful; significant relevant experience should be outlined in the application process.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Governance and work with committees (in non-profit or commercial organisations)
- Expertise/achievements in one or more of these specialist areas:
- Inclusion, diversity, equity and equality
- Formal and/or informal education
- Business finance and strategy
- Commercial and/or partnership development
- A working understanding of the Mountain Training schemes
We value the unique differences that each of our colleagues bring to their role as directors and are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, included and able to perform at their best. At Mountain Training Scotland, we are committed to creating an environment that is diverse and inclusive. We value the diversity of our people and actively seek to have a board that represents the rich diversity of the communities we support. Therefore, applications from candidates from underrepresented groups including women, people from ethnic minority ‘backgrounds’ and people who consider themselves to have a disability, are particularly welcomed.
